Sligo Town is located in the northwest of Ireland around 215km from Dublin and at the mouth of the Garavogue River with a population of 19.000 people. Sligo is the county town of the County Sligo. 

Nestled between majestic Benbulben mountain to the north, ancient Knocknarea mountain and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, beautiful Lough Gill to the east, and the rugged Ox Mountains to the south, Sligo is one of the most picturesque places in all of Ireland. Its rugged landscapes look untouchable a magical. 

At Sligo Town and County you will find many activities and sports to practice, from golf to horse riding. It is also a land of mystery, legends and poetry, having an amazing literary heritage which is still celebrated and famous worldwide. Around Sligo you can also find many important archaeological and historical sites, such as the enormous megalithic grave complex at Carrowkeel 

Benbulben – this magical rock formation is a protected site in Sligo County was shaped during the ice age and it can be walked to the top, especially from the south side, where the slope is gentler.

Glencar Lake and Waterfalls – located north of Sligo, which is fed by Glencar Waterfall.

Knocknarea and “Queens Maeve’s Grave” – Only 7 km west of Sligo and also accessible by walk, this hill also contains many different tales and stories, specially about “Queens Maeve’s Grave” which is situated on top of the hill.

Lough Gill – located north of Sligo. This lake is home of Islands, around 20 of them are in the lake.

Rosses Point Beach – with three different sandy beaches, Rosses Point has one of the best views of Sligo, with Benbulben right in front of you and also with a statue “waiting on the shore”, which is dedicated for the ones who wait for their loved ones that went away in the ocean, like sailor.

Strandhill Beach – The hard waves make this beach a very popular stop for surfers. At beachfront you can find very nice restaurants and pubs.

Sligo Town is a very cultural and artistic place with many beautiful walks, old building, cottages and castles. A magical town where you can spend a great weekend full of activities, but also relaxing.
