Are you still looking to book a holiday this summer? If so, why not consider the breath-taking landscapes that Croatia has to offer.
For years, Croatia has been somewhat forgotten about as a holiday destination. However, it is making its way back on the map, becoming one of the hottest holiday destinations that is rising in popularity in recent years.
Located off the Adriatic Sea, Croatia offers a wide range of stunning golden beaches, blue seas, old towns, history and culture, island hopping and even open air festivals guaranteeing a little something for everyone who wants to visit.
Dubrovnik, also known as ‘The Pearl of the Adriatic’ is one of the most well- known locations in Croatia. It is located at the southern tip of Croatia off coast of the Adriatic Sea and surrounded by magnificent city walls. Not only does Dubrovnik offer amazing coastal views but you can also stroll around the Old Town which provides amazing palaces and churches.
Split is the second largest city in Croatia and is less of a tourist destination than Dubrovnik. Similar to Dubrovnik, Split offers a mixture of both beaches and old towns which are always a must see! Take a fifteen minute walk up Marajan Hill and discover the best views of the city. Split is also a great location for island hopping or simply for taking day trips to neighbouring islands such as Hvar, Vis and Brac.
Zadar is another one of the lesser known holiday destinations. Due to this, travellers can expect a more laid back atmosphere with plenty to see and do stuff. Zadar is ideal for relaxing and enjoying the restaurants, bars and sights that are on offer. There are two main attractions in Zadar: the sound and light spectacle of the Sea Organ and the Sun Salutation. It is also a major gateway to the nearby islands.
Zagreb is the largest city and capital of Croatia. Unlike the rest of the cities listed above; Zagreb is not located along the Adriatic Sea and is often overlooked by travellers when deciding on a holiday destination. However, Zagreb ensures travellers an authentic experience of Croatia and its culture and history. There’s a lot to explore in Zagreb such as colourful museums, old towns, cathedrals, local food and drink.
Hvar is one of Croatia’s most popular Croatian Dalmatian islands. It’s only a short ferry trip from the mainland. It is said to be one of the most beautiful islands in the world. You can expect to see beautiful beaches, lavender fields, ancient olive trees and vineyards here. There are also plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy while in Hvar such as hiking and swimming. Hvar is also a popular celebrity destination, with many celebrities choosing to vacation here.
Plitvice Lakes National Park
Plitvice National Park is one of Croatia’s most beautiful natural landscapes. It is made up of several lakes, waterfalls and forests. The park’s main features include the sixteen interconnecting lakes which are divided into upper and lower clusters. Due to the many features of this park, one can expect to come across multiple colours ranging from turquoise to grey. The park is easy to explore as there are many wooden walkways and the park can also be accessed by boat.
