Some facts about U.S.A 29/01/2019

The United States of America is the third country most populous in the world. Its known for everything that is famous but particularly for the country of freedom: his surname is “The land of Freedom”. Here are some facts that will surprise you, take your time to read it and enjoy things that Americans people will never admit! 


  1. We’ll know that Washington D.C is the USA’s capital but, at the time, its capital was New York City because the city played a significant role in the establishment of a new government following the defeat of the British and the Treaty of Paris which ended the war.



  1. The American flag was designated by a 17 years old teenager, named Robert G. Heft, for a school project, he obtains a B. But the teacher changes his grade by an A when Congress decided to adopt his design to represent the USA.


3. The seven rays on the crown of the statue of Liberty represents the seven continents each measures up to 9 feet in length and weight as much as 150 pounds. 



  1. Women got the right to vote in 1920 thanks to the 19th amendment on the US Constitution: “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation”. 



  1. About 35 million Americans share DNA with at least one of the 102 pilgrims who arrived aboard the Mayflower in 1620. 



  1. Ohio is listed as the 17th state in the US but it’s the 47th because the Congress forgot to vote on a resolution to admit it to the Union until 1953. 


  1. United States has the largest economy in the world: about 25% of the world’s nominal GDP. 



  1. Pizza is the nation’s favorite fast food before burgers: there are about 100 acres of pizza which is served every day. 


  1. The USA haven’t got an official national language even if the most spoken languages are English and Spain. 





  1. The Pentagon served as the headquarters of the US Department of Defense including all 3 militaries services, is the largest office building in the world, boasting 17 miles of corridors and twice the space of the Empire State Building.
