Phuket, one of the southern provinces of Thailand consist of the largest island of Thailand; Phuket, and 32 more, smaller islands. We thought it would be a great weekend getaway knowing that is included in the top 5 destinations to spend New Year's Eve. Below you will find a few places that you wouldn't want to miss, when in Phuket.

Two Heroines Monument
Address: Thanon Thepkrasattri, Amphoe Thalang, Phuket

The story goes like this, it's the year 1785, two heroic sisters lead the locals – including many women – to a fight against Burmese invaders and win the battle. The two sisters were disguising women as male soldiers and used every force they had to stop the invaders. Their battle was not in vain as the Burmese invaders gave up their siege after a month. Making the two sisters heroes.

Thalang National Museum

Patong Beach

It is no surprise that Patong Beach is the most popular touristic destination of the island as it is the most developed beach in Phuket. With its fine white sand, it is a heavenly beach of 3 km long, located 15 km from Phuket town. Along the beach you will find hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, nightclubs and ofcourse watersports!! As for sunset lovers, Kalim, the northern end of Patong Bay is a popular spot.

Phuket Aquarium

You can't go to Phuket and skip the Phuket Aquarium! Established as part of the Phuket Marine Biological Centre in 1983 it attracts approximately 300,000 visitors per year. The number speak on their own, are you going to be one of those 300,000 visitors this year?

The Big Buddah of Phuket

Last, but definitely no least, in our list is the Big Buddah of Phuket. Thai people are very religious and have great respect for their royalty as well as Buddah. Up in the mountains you will find a 45 meters long image of Buddah covered in white Burmese marble!
