St Patrick's Day is the one national holiday that is celebrated in more countries around the world than any other! It’s the day that everyone wants to be Irish. Over the last few years St Patrick's Day has grown from a one-day event to a whole weekend full of festivities & events, celebrating what it means to be Irish.
So let the St Patrick's Day celebrations continue over the long weekend and here is a glimpse of what’s in store on Sunday March 18th in our city,
"Fun-fairs, 5km fun run, festivities & even some Irish events at Gaelspraoi"
There is certainly plenty to keep you entertained with majority of the events free!
Located at the gorgeous Merrion Square, the Funfair will run over the weekend from Saturday 17th through to Monday 19th from 11am-4pm each day
There is something fun for all ages from carousels, waltzers to those who like the more adventurous rides!
Don't forget the annual 5km St Patrick's Day fun run which kicks off at 12pm from St Stephen's Green on Sunday March 18th, finishing at Merrion Square where the Funfair and festivities will be in full flow.
The course will take you through the heart of Dublin city, being suitable for families, fun runners & those seeking more competition. You will be kept entertained enroute by a lively atmosphere of musicians, street performers and face painters, not to mention the spectators.
The Festival Big Day Out kicks off at 12pm till 6pm, with the whole square transforming into a colourful street carnival full of music, street performances, workshops, Irish activities 'Gaelspraoi' and a traditional festival Céilí.
Featuring an interactive reality arcade bringing games to life, mysterious storytelling and a science zone by Science Foundation Ireland, this St Patrick's Day weekend is jam packed full of activities & entertainment, something for everyone to enjoy.
